Going the Distance

Art in my family isnt an everyday thing, So for me to be a photographer is really our of the ordinary. It doesnt come all-natural to me, but that doesnt mean you dont have to work at what you love to get better.
So in five years I want to be doing...
  • Id would love to be assisting and learning under the photographer who takes pictures for rolling stones magazine or GQ or Vogue or even Maxim as Im sure most guys would love to. But I want to be able to use my creative mind and not only take and have the picture for the ocvers of major magazines but to also top and beat the head honcho out of his job. I love people and the characteristics that they bring to lens and I want to capture the moment that captures other peoples eyes. They beauty, mystery, age, muscle, artist abilities and persona people are born with.
  • The world has always opened my eyes and thoughts to wonder how and everything takes place in the world when you only notice what fraction goes on through your eyes. When discovery channel opened my eyes to a whole new world of nature and animals and places people have never been or rarely seen. I wanted to go and do that, National Geographic was what I wanted to do, to be there or take images people gasp over when they look in amazement. Sitting to catch that one perfect moment, It blows my mind how amazing everything in the world they make look beautiful without effort. National Geographic would be the perfect job to travel and take pictures of life around the world people only dream of seeing.
  • On the other side of that I would love to travel the world with little or no care about how Im going to do it, but just doing it. Being in the action and the places Ive always wanted to go and takes pictures of images that catch my eye and appeal to me and possibly use them for gallery or prints that one day people will see and realize "wow, that picture is amazing, where and how did he take that?" Doing things on my own terms and creating art work that I would cherish and sell as art work to others that opens there minds to the world around them.
  • I want to be a freelance and be hired on to do shoots for businesses and companies on anything and everything that they want me to do for them. Cars, people, product, location, bands or even commercial work...Expanding my portfolio in different areas is very important to me to learn how to get good at each subject I want to shoot.
  • My last thing I want to be doing Is going back to work for the company Big Fish Films in Dallas as an intern. Great job and I loved it there and would love to go back and keep learning new things from my boss on how to shoot and how the business works. Just being in the atmosphere and creating and doing what you love is something that everyone dreams of but not many do. I want to be great at what I do and I plan on it.

Through the next year I really want to Intern at Rolling Stones magazine and learn the business and what goes on, and how they actually put everything together as a whole piece. I want to be able to get my name out their and work at the business. And for the next couple of years I want to take what I have learned and come back to school to learn more and keep trying and working on my own things to experiment with everything I can think of and then go back into the world and start better off then when I left. Find my niche and run with it.
